This study aims to see how the application of managerial skills, analyze
internal factors and external factors that contribute to improving the quality of
education and the impact of the application of managerial skills in improving the
quality of education at SMAN 1 Palopo and SMAN 2 Palopo.This research is a
field research using the Mix Method method. Data obtained through questionnaires,
interviews, observation and documentation. Data on internal and external factors
were analyzed using the IFE (Internal Factors Evaluation) matrix and the EFE
(External Factors Evaluation) matrix to map the position of schools in improving
the quality of education. The results showed that: first, managerial skills at SMAN
1 and SMAN 2 Palopo were seen when compiling school programs and making
decisions by principals always involving teachers to participate. The principal also
always maintains harmonious communication with teachers and students and is able
to be a role model and motivator for school residents. As for technical skills in terms
of carrying out supervision, it needs to be further improved. Second, the results of
the analysis of the evaluation of internal and external factors indicate that the
strengths of SMAN 1 Palopo and SMAN 2 Palopo are able to overcome their
weaknesses and are very responsive to threats in improving the quality of education.
Third, the application of good skills at SMAN 1 Palopo and SMAN 2 Palopo makes
a positive contribution in improving the quality of education.
