Religious Education in Mengkendek 3 Public Junior High Schools, Tana

This thesis describes several problems, 1) How is the moderation of
religion in Mengkendek 3 Public Junior High School, Tana Toraja Regency? 2)
How is the learning of Islamic religious education at State Junior High School 3
Mengkendek, Tana Toraja Regency? 3) What are the supporting factors and
challenges in strengthening religious moderation through learning Islamic
religious education in Mengkendek 3 State Middle School, Tana Toraja Regency?
This research was a qualitative research that used a historical approach.
Sources of data in the study came from the results of interviews, as for the parties
interviewed, namely, while secondary data was taken from documents that had
something to do with research. The results of the study show that 1) Religious
moderation at SMP Negeri 3 Mengkendek Tana Toraja Regency has indirectly
been formed, this is evidenced by whether coercion (respect for individual rights)
in religion and tolerance has been built by all groups starting from family, school,
and society. 2) Learning PAI in State Junior High School 3 Mengkendek Tana
Toraja Regency is the teacher providing reinforcement of religious education in
lessons, namely by providing information and sources related to morals, as well as
through giving lesson assignments that aim to train students' responsibilities . PAI
teachers in moral development. 3) Supporting factors towards the application of
religious moderation in learning PAI SMP Negeri 3 Mengkendek Tana Toraja
Regency because there is an accommodative local wisdom of the community that
is so strong that it has an impact on the curriculum in educational institutions in
Tana Toraja Regency. In addition to working with others based on a high sense of
solidarity. So that religious moderation indirectly has implications for Islamic
religious education at SMP Negeri 3 Mengkendek Tana Toraja Regency as a
strengthening in education.
The implication of the research is that even though there are differences in
beliefs between students, the community can still live side by side and help each
other live, without having to cause social conflict. the religious social condition of
the people in Toraja is used as a reflection for all Indonesian people to know,
respect and understand each other better in order to create a harmonious life, and
put awareness that differences do not have to be turned into social conflict.
