This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using reciprocal teaching
technique to improve reading comprehension at MTS satu atap datok sulaiman
palopo. This study applied the pre-experimental research design focusing on one
group's pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was all of the
students in the eleventh grade of MTS satu atap datok sulaiman palopo, which
compared 58 students divided into three classes. The sample was taken by using a
random sampling technique, which consists of 18 students. While the research
instrument used was a reading test. The data were analyzed using Paired Sample
T-test and calculated with SPSS 22. The results of this research showed the mean
score on Post-Test (71.50), was higher than the Pre-Test (53.22). The value of
data analysis, tcount (6.261) while the ttable for the standard of significance level 0,05
(5%) on df (degree of freedom) value 17 was 2.110. It means the data stated that
the value of tcount is higher than the value of ttable. On the other hand, hypothesis
alternative (H1) was accepted, and hypothesis null (HO) was rejected. It can be
concluded that using Reciprocal Teaching Technique is effective in teaching
Narrative text to increase students' Reading skill.
