Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out the effectiveness of advertising product to improve students’ speaking skill at SMP Negeri 13 Palopo. This research has two variables, namely the students’ speaking skill as independent variable and advertising
product as dependent variable. This research applied Pre-Experimental method, where the students were given both pre test and post test. The population and also the sample in this research was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Palopo.
Which the total numbers are 15 students. The result of the research found that the students’ speaking score in post test (59,07) is higher than in the pre test (35,47). The
probability value was 0,000 < 0,05. Based on the statistical value, it can be concluded that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. It means that using advertising product was effective to improve students’ speaking skill and can be recommended to use in speaking class
