This thesis studies on the development of students’ vocabulary at SMP Negeri
8 Palopo through Flash Card method. This thesis focused on two research questions; to
what extend the flash card improve the students’ vocabulary at the Eighth Year
Students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo and how are the students’ perception toward the
technique used by the researcher?
This research applied pre-experimental research with one group of pre-test and
post-test design. This research was undertaken at eight year students of SMP Negeri 8
Palopo in 2010/2011 academic year. The numbers of populations were 120 students
and the researcher took 25 students as samples using the random sampling technique.
The researcher used observation checklist, and questionnaires as instruments of the
data collection.
The result of this research shows that there were significant developments on
students’ vocabulary at eighth year’s students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo after
conducting the treatments by using Flash card media. The result of the data analysis is
acceptability because t value is bigger than t table, with df 24 and standard significant
5% =2,06 and 1% = 2,80 (2,06 ≤ 13,3985765≥ 2,80).
