ABSTRACT
Astuti M Junaedi, 2022.“The Effectiveness of Using Picture in Teaching
Writing to The Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 3 Bua
Ponrang”. Thesis English Education Study Program in the
State Islamic Institute of Palopo Supervised by Amalia Yahya
and Magfirah Thayyib.
This thesis attempted to find out the effectiveness of using pictures in teaching
writing to the Eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Bua Ponrang. The research
question was ”Is using pictures effective in teaching writing to the eighth-grade
students of SMPN 3 Bua Ponrang?” This thesis applied the quantitative method.
The population of this research was the students in SMPN 3 Bua Ponrang. The
sample in this research was 20 eighth-grade students. The researcher got the score
of students' writing skills by using a test namely pre-test and post-test. The result
of statistical analysis of significance level (0,05) with the degree of freedom (df) =
19 then the t-table was 1,729. The probable value is t-test>t-table (22,075>1,729).
In addition, the significance (2-tailed) is 000. So, the value significance < 0,05
means the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is
rejected. This means that using picture media is effective in teaching writing.
