Abstract

ABSTRAK
Ariska, 2022. Application of the VARK Learning Model in Improving Beginning
Reading Ability in Class I of SDN 31 Sampeang” Thesis for the Teacher
Education Study Program at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Faculty of Tarbiyah and
Teacher Training, Palopo State Islamic Institute. Supervised by Nursyamsi
and Ahmad Munawir.
This thesis discusses the application of the VARK learning model in
improving early reading skills in class I SDN 31 Sampeang. The aim of this study;
To determine students' initial reading ability after using the VARK learning
model.
The type of research used is classroom action research consisting of cycle I
and cycle II. The subjects of this study were grade 1 students at SDN 31
Sampeang. The data instrument used is the initial reading ability test instrument.
While the data analysis techniques used are quantitative and qualitative data
analysis techniques.
Based on the results of the data analysis that has been carried out, it shows
an increase in the percentage of initial reading ability with an average score of
students from the pre-cycle of 59%, the first cycle is 69.84%, then the second
cycle is 86.89%. Thus it can be concluded that using the VARK learning model
can improve the ability to read at the beginning of Indonesian language lessons in
first semester students of SDN 31 Sampeang.
