Karmila Sari, 2022 “The Use Of Movie To Increase Student’s Speaking Skill”. A thesis of the
English Department of Tarbiyah and Training Faculty for the State College
of Islamic Institut IAIN Palopo. Supervised by Consultant (I) Dr.
Muhaemin M.A and (Consultant II) Muhammad Iksan S. Pd

This research about how movies could help students at Helmi Private improve their
speaking abilities. The research question is using the movie to improve pupils' speaking
abilities the problem stated in this thesis? The research goal was to determine whether or not
teaching students to speak more fluently through the usage of the movie. The pre-experimental
approach was utilized in this research. The participants in this research were English language
learners enrolled in Helmi's private course. The accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility
scores of the students were gathered by the researcher using the speaking test. The four
meetings of the experimental instruction lasted roughly 90 minutes each. a pre-test came before
it, and a post-test followed it. The learner's speaking abilities were judged to be lacking in the
pre-test (mean score: 31,13). The trainees' speaking abilities significantly improved during the
post-test. Some of the students significantly raise their speaking abilities in all areas, which
increased the mean score from 68.46 to 68.46. As a result, The writer concluded that the use of
the Boss Baby Movie is effective in increasing the students speaking skills. It's proven by the
result of paired sample test which found that t-count = 11,945 is higher than the t-table ( 2,
145).
