Arini kasim, 2023."The Use Of Webtoon “Ood Girl Out” To Improve Students’
Reading Skill For Eleventh-Grade At Sman 2 Palopo", a
thesis of the English Language Education Study Program,
Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty of State Islamic
Institute of Palopo. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Rustan
Santaria, M.Hum. and Husnaini, S.Pd,I., M.Pd.
This study aimed to use the webtoon "ood girl out" to teach reading skills to the
eighth grade students of SMAN 2 Palopo. This study applied a pre-experimental
research design that focused on pre-test and post-test one group design. The
population of this study was students by XI Science 6 SMAN 2 Palopo, consisting
of 33 students. The samples were taken using cluster random sampling technique.
The research instrument used is a reading test. The data was analyzed using SPSS
29 by calculating and describing the average score statistically. This study showed
that the average score of the post-test (71.04) was higher than the pre-test (82.29).
The significance value is less than the standard p-value (0.000 <001). On the other
hand, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (HO) is
rejected. It can be concluded that the use of webtoons to improve reading skills is
effective and can be recommended in teaching reading skills.
