Dewi Sartika, (2024). “The Use of Metacognitive Strategy to Improve Students Writing
Skill At Junior High School SATAP Raja Bua” Thesis English Study
Program Educational Department In the State Islamic Institute of Palopo,
Supervised by Wisran and Husnaini.
This research aims to analyze whether or not the metacognitive strategy at Junior High
School SATAP Raja Bua effectively improves students' writing skills. In this research,
the researcher conducted the pre-experimental method. The instrument of this research
was a pre-test, treatment, and post-test approach to assess how much students' writing
skills improved when they applied the metacognitive strategy. Pre- and post-tests were
the two test stages used in the study project to assess students' writing proficiency. Tests
that are now in use take the form of written essays. The researcher used pre- and post-test
instruments in writing exercises based on experimental research. The results indicate that
the pre-test mean score was 52.44, and the post-test mean score increased to 70.00 during
four meetings following treatment. As a result, the post-test value exceeded the pre-test
value. The alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted when (H0) was rejected. Students'
writing abilities can be improved by using metacognitive strategy in teaching descriptive
text at Junior High School SATAP Raja Bua.
