Sahwadi, 2024. “Improving Listening Comprehension through Podcast for the
Second Semester of English Language Education Study
Program at IAIN Palopo Supervised by (I) Wahibah and (II)
Dewi Furwana”.
The goal of this study was to determine whether podcast media improved the
listening skills of second-semester English Language Education Study Program
students at IAIN Palopo, as well as to learn about the students' perceptions of
podcasts after they had used them. This study utilized the pre-experimental
research method. This study involved second-semester students from the State
Institute Islamic Palopo's English Language Study Program during the academic
year 2021/2022. The sample size was twenty students from a single class. This
study concentrated on a single group of students and used a pre-test, treatment,
and post-test design. The paired sample t-test between the pre-test and post-test
yielded a mean of -6.367, a standard deviation of 27.192, a standard error mean of
5.934, and a t-table value of -1.073 with a df of 19. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0)
is rejected, but the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. As a result, it was
concluded that podcast media improves students' listening comprehension during
the second semester. The English Language Education Study Program at IAIN
Palopo, as well as student perceptions based on questionnaire results, revealed
that using Podcasts in the second semester can improve listening comprehension.
