Abstract
ABSTRACT
MUHAMMAD SAFAR, 2024. “Creating Podcast Videos As Project-Based
Learning to Increase Student Speaking Ability at The Eleventh Grade of SMKN
2 Luwu”. A Thesis of English Study Program, Tarbiyah and Teacher Training
Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Palopo. Under Supervisor Masruddin as the
first consultant and St. Hartina as the second consultant.
The objective of this research was to find out whether or not creating podcast videos
increases speaking ability at the eleventh grade of SMKN 2 Luwu. In this research,
the researcher applied an experimental design and conducted six meetings. The
population of this research there are 285 students with eight classes and six majors
in the Eleventh Grade of SMKN 2 Luwu. The researcher used a purpossive
sampling technique and chose 28 students from class XI Office Automation. The
instrument used to collect data was a speaking test. The data of this research was
analysed by using SPSS program version 25. The finding of this researcher showed
that creating podcast videos as project-based learning effectively increases the
speaking ability of the eleventh-grade students of SMKN 2 Luwu. It is proven by
the mean score of the students in the post-test (51,5) is higher than in pre-test (42,4).
Moreover, the statistical test using SPSS shows that to (tcount) = 11.145 is higher than
tt (ttable)= 1.703. Also, the table above shows the significant (2-tailed) value = 0,000,
which means it is smaller than 0,05 (the value for the standard of significant level).
It can be concluded that creating podcast videos as project-based learning can
increase student speaking ability. This research can provide important insights into
how a project-based learning approach using modern technology, such as video
podcasts, can positively impact students' speaking ability.
