Fatima Azzahrah, 2024. “Developing English Camping Book for Scout
Organization in IAIN Palopo”. A thesis of The English
Language Education Study Program of Tarbiyah and Teacher
Training Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Palopo, Supervised
by (1) Sahraini and (2) Fadhliyah Rahmah Muin.
The research focuses on Developing an English material book for camping at a
scout organization in IAIN Palopo. The research method used was Research and
Development (R&D) with the 4-D development model. This model consists of
four steps: define, design, develop and disseminate. The research participants
were 20 scout members of IAIN Palopo. These research instruments were used,
namely questionnaires and interviews for needs analysis, expert validation, and
questionnaires for the perceptions of students and scout coaches. The techniques
used in analyzing data in this research were quantitative and qualitative methods.
Then, the researcher produced a book with four chapters, a vocabulary list at the
end, and learning activities for each topic. In addition, the book was also equipped
with attractive pictures and colours. The product was implemented with 20 scout
students from IAIN Palopo, who obtained an average score of 4.6 with a
presentation of 93% and were categorized as excellent. After passing through the
stages that have been determined, the final result of the book product is declared
feasible and ready to be used by members of the IAIN Palopo scout organization.
