MITOS MANUSIA JADI-JADIAN DALAM MASYARAKAT LUWU TIMUR (SEBUAH STUDI MITOLOGI ROLAND BARTHES)

Skripsi ini membahas mitos manusia jadi-jadian dalam kepercayaan masyarakat
Luwu Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: mengapa mitos manusia
jadi-jadian bisa eksis di masyarakat Luwu Timur; serta pandangan Roland Barthes
terhadap mitos manusia jadi-jadian dalam kepercayaan masyarakat Luwu Timur.
Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiologi Roland Barthes tentang mitos.
Penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis.
Sumber data primer yaitu dari tokoh masyarakat setempat dan pihak lain yang
dijadikan sebagai informan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa eksisnya mitos manusia
jadi-jadian di masyarakat Luwu Timur dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor, yaitu: kuatnya
tradisi lisan di masyarakat dan keterbatasan pengetahuan ilmiah. Pandangan Roland
Barthes terhadap mitos manusia jadi-jadian dalam kepercayaan masyarakat Luwu
Timur, yaitu: makna denotasi: mitos manusia jadi-jadian dimaknai makhluk gaib
namun bertubuh serupa manusia sesungguhnya. Serta larangan berkeliaran pada
malam hari, dimaknai sebagai pengalihan bahasa agar masyarakat tidak berkeliaran
pada malam hari di daerah daerah terpencil.

This thesis discusses the myth of imitation humans in the beliefs of the people of
East Luwu. This research aims to find out: why the myth of imitation humans can
exist in East Luwu society; and Roland Barthes' views on the myth of imitation
humans in the beliefs of the people of East Luwu. This research uses Roland
Barthes' semiological analysis of myths. This research is descriptive qualitative
with a phenomenological approach. Primary data sources are local community
leaders and other parties who serve as informants. The results show that the
existence of the myth of imitation humans in East Luwu society is influenced by
two factors, namely: the strength of oral traditions in society and the limitations of
scientific knowledge. Roland Barthes' view of the myth of imitation humans in the
beliefs of the people of East Luwu, namely: denotational meaning: the myth of
imitation humans is interpreted as a supernatural creature but with a body similar
to a real human. As well as the prohibition on roaming around at night, it is
interpreted as a language diversion so that people do not wander around at night in
remote areas.
