Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Palopo. Supervised by Jufriadi and
Rusdiansyah.
This research investigates the efficacy of employing drama-based activity as a
pedagogical tool for increasing speaking skills among third-grade students at
SMAN 4 Luwu Utara. Employing a pre-experimental methodology, the research
involved a sample of thirty-six participants. Drama-based activities were
integrated into the teaching approach. Data collection encompassed the pre-test,
treatment, and post-test phases. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 25.
Results indicate a noteworthy improvement in post-test scores compared to pre-
test scores (38 > 58.2). Additionally, the calculated t-value (13.444) surpassed the
critical t-value (1.690), with a two-tailed significance level of 0.000, indicating
statistical significance (p < 0.05). The findings suggest that using drama-based
activities effectively increases students‟ speaking skills. Future research should
explore the applicability of drama-based interventions across diverse contexts and
address varied challenges in fostering imaginative speech development.
