Windi Pudaka, 2024. Improving Student’s Reading Comprehension By Using
Short Animation Story at Eight Grade of SMPN 8 Palopo.
A thesis of English Language Education Study Program,
Education and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic Institute
Palopo. Supervised by Wahibah and Andi Tenrisanna
Syam.
This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Short Animation Story in
improving reading skills for the Eight grade students of SMPN 8 Palopo. It
applied pre-experimental research that focused on one group pre-test and post-test
design. The Eight-grade students of at SMPN 8 Palopo as the population of this
research. The sample is taken by purposive sampling, which consists of 14
students. The data were analyzed descriptively statistically and calculated by
using SPSS 22. The data were analyzed by calculating the mean score and paired
sample t-test. The result revealed that the student's mean score on post-test (83,79)
was higher than the pre-test (64,79). The ttest (24,89) is higher than ttable (2,160).
It indicates that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null
hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It can be stated that utilizing the Short Animation
Story is recommended to apply in improving students' reading skills.
