The researcher focused on applying Mistake Buster Technique to enhance
students’ ability in simple past tense at the Eleventh grade of SMA PMDS Putri
Palopo. The research question was “Does Mistake Buster Technique enhance
students’ ability in mastering simple past tense at the Eleventh grade of SMA PMDS
Putri Palopo?”. The research aimed to know whether or not Mistake Buster
Technique (MBT) enhances students’ ability in simple past tense.
The research used pre-experimental research. The subject of the research was
XI IPS 1 which consists of 22 students. The research had been conducted eight
meetings included pretest, treatment and posttest. The data was analyzed by using
SPSS ver. 20.
The result of the research showed that Mistake Buster Technique was
effective to enhance students’ ability in simple past tense. It could be seen in the
calculating of the research that the students’ score in posttest was higher than
students’ score in pretest. The total score in pretest were 642, while the total score in
posttest were 1614. Besides, the mean score of posttest was higher than the mean
score of pretest (84.95>33.79). Furthermore, the Probability Value (P-Value) was
lower than alpha (
