Analytical Exposition Text at the Third Grade of SMA PMDS
Putri Palopo”. A thesis of the English Language Education
Stady Program Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training State
Islamic Institute of Palopo. Supervised by: Amalia Yahya,
Andi Tenrisanna Syam.
This research aims to find out whether or not to use Instagram in writing
an analytical exposition text at the third grade of SMA PMDS Putri Palopo. In
addition, it was held to know the effectiveness of using Instagram in writing an
analytical exposition text. This study applied the pre-experimental research
method. The researcher got the score on five aspects of writing skill, the
components involved; content, organisation, vocabulary, grammar and mechanics,
using a pre-test and post-test test. The population of this research was the students
in the third grade of SMA PMDS Putri Palopo, class XII IPA II. The sample was
taken by using a purposive sampling technique. The number of samples was 15
students at XII IPA II.
This research showed that using Instagram effectively in writing an
analytical exposition text in the third grade of SMA PMDS Putri Palopo. The
result of the data analysis shows the value of tc (tcount) was 32.537 with the df
(degree of freedom) value 14 while the tt (ttable) for the standard of significance
level 0,05 (5%) on df (degree of freedom) value 14 was 1,761, it means the data
stated that the value of tc (tcount) is higher than value of tt (ttable), as follow 32.537 >
1.761. The result from t-test in this research also shows the significance value was
0.000 is smaller than P value standard 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). In other hand,
hypothesis alternative (H1) was accepted and hypothesis null (H0) was rejected.
